7.0 DEVICES
Differences between tracking Devices in Application is determined by the simplicity or complexity of each Device. Some Devices report just locations, others generate advanced data and can be remotely controlled. Some Devices use satellite networks to communicate, while others use radio signals and cellular networks. There are also ‘hybrid’ Devices that return signals to Application when they report but can also go into stealth modes for long periods. These Devices record their activities internally until the data is retrieved. All Devices are tracked the same, regardless of simplicity or complexity.
7.1 Configuring Devices
Before tracking a Device begins, specific Device information must be entered into a supporting UniTrac based server. ‘Airtime services’ must also be established by your Administrator with the Application Airtime Desk. The Administrator then assigns each Device to a group of Users.
Users can monitor and track Devices either in an Ad Hoc way, or as part of a group of Devices on an assigned Operation. These Users can turn ON and OFF Device functions, and respond to Panic Alerts, Rule Violation Alerts and Status Alerts as needed.
To see a list of Devices assigned to you, or to your team, open Menu > Views > Devices.
Your assigned Devices will appear in a list on the left side of the DEVICES grid.
7.2 Using Device Shortcut Menus
Access to Device Controls Panels is found in their shortcut menus. The standard Device’s shortcut menu contains the most commonly used commands for Device operations, as seen below.
These include Find, Center on Device, Create Geofence, access to Basic or Advanced History tools, Address Lookup, Device Properties, and the Devices remote Control Panel.
There are three ways to access shortcut menus:
- The first is to locate your target Device on the map. Once found, right-click on the Device’s icon to open its shortcut menu, then select the shortcut to your objective.
- The second way to open a shortcut menu is to use the Devices grid:
- Open the main Menu > View > Devices.
- Scroll down the grid to locate your target Device.
- Right-click on the target Device listing to open its shortcut menu.
- In the menu, select the action you want to take.
- The third way to access a Device’s shortcut menu is by using the ‘Operations Tree’. The ‘Tree’ is on the left side of the screen when using the SWP Style of screen layout or you can access it through the toolbar if using the AFW style of layout.
- Click the Tree icon on the toolbar.
- Go up to the Tree on the left side of your map.
- Scroll down and locate your target Device.
- Right-click its listing to open its shortcut menu.
- In the menu, click the command you want to use.
